2024 INTERDESIGN
7 2024 INTERDESIGN The Biennale Interdesign – Vision and Innovation , now in its fifth edition, serves as a regional benchmark for innovative perspectives and conceptualizations of design – principles that characterize the 2024 edition. Through Interdesign , the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara fosters direct connections between designers and the academic community. There has always been an intrinsic connection between human needs and their creations, a relationship that design continues to reflect. However, as society becomes increasingly complex, design adapts to accommodate the diverse and nuanced needs of contemporary individuals. These evolving needs have led modern designers to adopt a range of approaches, a diversity that is evident in this catalog. In general, the design process adheres to a consistent procedural framework, encompassing initial ideation, realization, and themeticulous definition of products in terms of profitability. By bringing together designers from ten countries across Europe and Asia, the Interdesign - Vision and Innovation catalog underscores the globalizing nature of design. It demonstrates how diverse issues and concepts are gradually becoming more universal. Nevertheless, despite the facilitation of a globally interconnected modernity in all its facets, complete uniformity cannot be claimed. Deep-rooted cultural differences persist, continuing to shape distinct perspectives and approaches. The anticipatory and empathetic dimensions of design are essential for addressing both current and prospective needs, providing well-suited responses to various challenges. Interior and product design now prioritize vision and innovation to develop solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing but, more critically, functional, efficient, sustainable, and tailored to user requirements. Increasingly, designers focus not only on meeting specific needs but also on engaging with broader, diverse considerations that reflect the complexities of contemporary society. Consequently, principles such as personalization, empathy, and user experience, along with cultural relevance, are now incorporated alongside sustainability, ecological responsibility, and biophilic design. Additionally, advanced technologies - including s mart home systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), a ugmented reality (AR) and v irtual reality (VR) - have become established, integral components of modern design, supporting a holistic and adaptive approach.
